The Carneros Heritage Vineyard

A Study in Clonal Precision and Viticultural History

Nestled in the coolest southern reaches of Napa Valley, our 20-acre estate is a family-owned sanctuary where the convergence of marine influence and terroir excellence creates something extraordinary.

Located in the heart of the Los Carneros AVA, Napa Valley, our vineyard is defined by the cooling maritime influence of the San Pablo Bay and a rare collection of heritage and Dijon clones. Our mission is to produce fruit that balances the structural power of California's viticultural past with the aromatic elegance of its modern future.

Where others see challenge, we see opportunity. This long, temperate growing season develops complex, intense varietal character distinctive to the world-renowned Carneros AVA.

Our commitment extends beyond farming. We are stewards of a legacy—preserving this unique microclimate, nurturing each vine with meticulous care, and ensuring that every cluster reflects the integrity of our land.

15 Acres of Precision Farming

Terroir & Site Specifics

  • Appellation: Los Carneros, Napa Valley (Napa Side).
  • Soil Composition: Primarily Haire Clay Loam. These shallow, heavy clay soils naturally restrict vine vigor, leading to small, concentrated berries with exceptional skin-to-juice ratios.
  • Climate: Region I (Cool Climate). Persistent morning fog and afternoon “Bay breezes” ensure a long, slow ripening period, preserving the bright natural acidity essential for world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Farming Philosophy

  • Precision Viticulture: We utilize small-lot management, tailoring canopy thinning and irrigation to the specific needs of each clone.
  • Quality Over Yield: Our heritage blocks are thinned to ensure low yields and maximum flavor concentration.
  • Sustainability: We farm with a “minimal intervention” mindset, respecting the unique Carneros ecosystem to ensure the health of our vines for the next generation.

The Pinot Noir Heritage Blocks

2 Acres

We specialize in “Heritage” selections that pre-date the modern Dijon era, offering a savory, complex alternative to high-yield commercial clones.

Clone 97 (Swan) — The “Aromatic Halo”

Sourced from the legendary Joseph Swan lineage, these vines produce ethereal, high-toned wines noted for wild strawberry, rose petal, and white pepper.

Clone 98 (Jackson) — The “Soul & Structure”

A 19th-century selection that provides the dark fruit core, forest-floor earthiness, and the tannic “backbone” required for age-worthy Pinot Noir.

Cabernet Franc

1 Acre

An unexpected jewel in cool-climate Carneros. While traditionally a warmer-climate varietal, our microsite allows Cabernet Franc to express a rare side: herbaceous elegance, brambly red fruit, and a delicate structure that adds depth and complexity.

A New Chapter: The Goel Estate Wine

For years, we've sold our fruit to Napa's most prestigious producers—names you know, wines you've admired. But we've always held a quiet ambition: to craft our own estate wine.

We're beginning a long-term project to develop the Goel Estate label. This is not a quick venture. We're working with a thoughtful winemaking partner, planning limited production, and imagining wines that honor the precision of our farming and the purity of Carneros terroir.

When the time is right—when the wine reflects our vision—we'll release something rare and meaningful. For now, we invite those who appreciate nuance, patience, and place to join our waiting list.

This is a wine worth waiting for.
